Your heart was practically shooting through your chest as she approached you; a regally slow pace that left you struggling for breath. You resisted cowering into Hamish’s side, no matter how much she made you nervous. You wouldn’t show fear.
It also seemed like he got his looks from his mother. They shared the same blonde hair, blue eyes, and sharp features. Her cold stare was one to rival Hamish’s, however. Then she smiled.

“I have a room made up for you and Hammy,” She grinned, “You’ll have the event tomorrow, and a day to rest overmorrow.”
“Thanks, Mom,” Hamish pressed a polite kiss to her cheek, “We’ll get settled in, and then we’ll go out for dinner.”
“I can take that.” You offered as Hamish went to grab your bag.
“Nonsense, Darling, he’s a gentleman.” Rose pulled you away. You looked back at Hamish helplessly but he only offered you a sheepish shrug. Rose pulled you inside, he followed quietly behind.
“This is where you’ll be staying.” She stopped in front of the door to a room, swinging it open.
“And what about Hamish?” You asked innocently, making Rose laugh.
“You’re a funny one. Hamish will be staying in here as well. You’re both adults, I trust you can keep it in your pants for a few days.”
Rose turned with a flourish, winking at Hamish mischievously.

You took your bag from him, now that his mother was gone, and plopped yourself on the bed, letting out a relieved sigh.
“Don’t get too comfortable, Pup, we are still gonna go out for an early dinner.” He grabbed your hand, pulling you into a sitting position. Your stomach grumbled, proving his point. “C’mon, I’ll take you to my favorite place when I was a kid, and then we can pick my sister up from soccer.”
“Y’know, out of all the people we have to convince, it’s your sister that scares me the most,” You admitted, stretching out her sore limbs. “Can we unpack a little first?”
“Sure.” He laughed.
Unpacking was the breath of fresh air you needed. After so long spent in that car, you weren’t in a rush to get back in it. Unfortunately, that couldn’t last forever. Too soon, they were back in the car, heading off to wherever Hamish was taking them.
Dinner was quiet. They sat in a corner booth at a diner, ate their meals, and packed a meal to go for his sister Julia.
“She’s nice, you’ll like her,” Hamish assured once again as they stopped outside the high school. “More importantly, she’ll like you.”
“Yeah, you do know that sisters have this sixth sense when their sibling is in a bad relationship right?” You looked up at him, growing increasingly more nervous by the minute.

Just as if that was her cue, Julia was jogging down the sidewalk to them.
“I thought Mom was picking me up today?” Julia stopped in front of them.
“Sorry, kid, looks like you’re stuck with me.” Hamish shrugged with a smile. Julia relaxed and pulled him into a hug. She must’ve looked more like their dad because she was the antithesis of Hamish with dark hair and soft features.
“Good to see you Hammy, I take it this is your girlfriend?”
“She is indeed.”

“Y/n, I know. Mom already told me.” Julia extended her hand to you. You shook her hand the way you were taught, firm grip but not too tightly.

“It’s nice to meet you, Julia. Hamish has told me a lot about you.” You smiled easily.
“Good things, I hope. What are we doing standing out here, I’m exhausted.”
You would’ve let out a sigh of relief, but you were certain that Julia shared her brother’s wolf-like senses, no matter how ridiculous that seemed. She wasn’t a Knight, but she still felt like she could utterly destroy you if you got on her bad side.
“This is for you,” You handed her the to-go box from the front seat, twisting around to hand it to her. She muttered out her thanks and dug in, paying you no mind. You had time to win her over at least. You were mainly relieved that this was almost over with and you could go to bed.
